Kaseya Cloud Backup vs. Unitrends Cloud Backup: What’s the Difference?

Kaseya has a portfolio of data protection, backup and disaster recovery (BDR) services and software that MSPs can leverage.  The latest offering is Unitrends Cloud Backup (UCB), a new product that empowers MSPs to "protect data that resides on servers and end point devices by replicating it directly to the Unitrends Cloud."

The new offering surfaced a few days before the Kaseya Connect IT 2019 conference kicked off today in Las Vegas.

At first glance, the new UCB service appears to overlap with Kaseya Cloud Backup, which leverages technology from Acronis. ChannelE2E reached out to Kaseya to better understand whether UCB overlaps with Kaseya Cloud Backup, and whether the Acronis relationship continues forward.

A Kaseya spokesperson offered this reply to ChannelE2E's inquiry, assuring MSPs that the company would maintain an open platform and multiple data protection options for partners:

"Kaseya continues to have a strong partnership with Acronis and will continue to develop, support and enhance the backup offering that is built into Kaseya's VSA product. This new announcement adds workstation direct to cloud capabilities to Unitrends' existing product functionality.  Kaseya remains an open platform; we integrate with all major providers including Datto, Veeam, Acronis, Veritas and others and we strive to provide customers with the choice they require to implement the best products to suit their unique needs."

Kaseya's data protection options for MSPs and IT departments don't end there. The company also owns Spanning Cloud Apps, a SaaS backup platform for Microsoft Office 365, Google G Suite and Salesforce.
