Executive Turntable: eOne Music Hires UMG Synch Exec, Nashville Legend Joins Blockchain Startup Beatdapp

Entertainment One (eOne) has named Maria Alonte to the newly-created role of senior vp, creative integration, music, the company announced Tuesday (April 7). Reporting to eOne’s global president, music and live Chris Taylor and based in Los Angeles, Alonte will oversee eOne’s creative servicing hub for film, TV and content producers who are looking for music solutions on their projects.
“One of our unique selling propositions as a music company is our proximity to content producers that are using music every day,” said Taylor in a statement. “Maria will assist in continuing to build the bridge to those creators to ensure eOne provides the best end to end music solution in the business. We are so lucky to have her.”
Alonte comes from Universal Music, where she served as senior vp, film and TV synchronization. In that role, she headed the creative synch team for UMG’s Republic, Def Jam, Island and Verve labels and produced the soundtrack album for the animated film Ferdinand for Island, which netted Nick Jonas a Golden Globe Nomination for the song “Home.” She additionally produced the soundtrack to the film The Hate U Give for Def Jam Recordings and was instrumental in securing Ariana Grande and her single “7 Rings” for Apple’s Memoji ads.

Music Row veteran Joe Galante has joined the advisory board for blockchain music startup Beatdapp, it was announced Tuesday (April 7).
Galante spent over 39 years at Sony/RCA, where he helped launch the careers of Alabama, Clint Black, Kenny Chesney, Sara Evans, The Judds, Carrie Underwood and more.
“Joe is in a league of his own, “said Beatdapp co-founders Andrew Batey and Morgan Hayduk in a statement. “He has achieved sustained success both by developing the careers of multi-platinum award winning artists and building Sony Music Nashville into a country music juggernaut. We are delighted to welcome him to our team and know that his wealth of hard won wisdom both as an entrepreneur and public company executive will help us grow Beatdapp in Nashville and in music cities everywhere.”
In his own statement, Galante called Beatdapp a “company to watch” and praised Batey and Hayduk’s vision. “I’m looking forward to working with my esteemed advisor colleagues and the team to bring Beatdapp to market,” he said.
Galante met Batey and Hayduk through their participation in the 2019 edition of The Nashville Entrepreneur Center’s Project Music incubator program, which he led the creation of.
Other advisory board members for Beatdapp include former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper; LaPolt Law managing attorney Sarah Scott; DotBlackChain co-founder Benji Rogers; former Canadian Consul General to Los Angeles James Villeneuve; EFPL dean of computer science James Larus and Blockchain Founders Fund managing partner Aly Madhavji.
Galante also currently serves on the board of directors for the Country Music Association and chairs the CMA Foundation.
Veteran A&R executive and publisher Missi Gallimore has launched T.R.U.T.H. Management, which will concentrate of artist development and management, A&R, publishing, digital marketing, styling and more, it was announced Monday (April 6).
T.R.U.T.H. Management represents country artists including Shy Carter, Abbey Cone and Track45 as well as Americana artist Sam Williams (son of Hank Williams, Jr.). Cone and Track45 are joint-venture management projects with Gary Borman and Borman Entertainment.
“Forming T.R.U.T.H. Management was just the next step for me,” said Gallimore in a statement. “I am ready to take what’s mine and see where this will go! I have assembled a great team, and we have already accomplished more than I thought imaginable, and we are just getting started!”
Gallimore started her career working with the late country songwriter-producer Billy Sherrill in Nashville. She also spent 10 years at Charley’s Pride’s publishing company Pride Music Group before pivoting to A&R, working with artists such as Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, Faith Hill, Lee Ann Womack and Sugarland.
Keith Rothschild, formerly senior vp of promotion at Def Jam Recordings, has been hired at RCA Records in the same role.
He will work alongside Jeff Rizzo, Joe Daddio, Pam Kaye and Mike Boccuzzi to form a new team focusing on the Top 40 and Hot AC formats, directly reporting to RCA co-president Joe Riccitelli out of the company’s New York office.
Rothschild previously worked in promotion at Warner Bros. Records.
Cory B. Savage has been promoted to CEO at entertainment and media company Visionary Media Group (VMG), it was announced Thursday (April 9). Savage previously served as CEO at its subsidiary record label One Vision Music Group.
In his new role, Savage will continue overseeing the label’s operations, including executing music publishing, sync licensing, legal expertise and finance services while also directing VMG’s film production and scores and other upcoming music projects.
Prior to VMG, Savage owned the multimedia consulting firm Cory B. Savage Enterprises, where he worked with companies including CBS Consulting, Sony Music Entertainment and Big Machine Label Group. He has additionally served as a creative director and producer for music videos by Blake Shelton and Robin Thicke and live performances by Rod Stewart, Mary J. Blige and Thompson Square, among others.
Rostrum Records has hired Jhared “Jae” Brown as senior director of A&R, it was announced Friday (April 10). In his new role, he will oversee the label’s partnership with rapper 24hrs’ Private Club Records and work with artists including DWN2EARTH and Salma Slims.
Brown joins the company from Capitol Records, where he worked in A&R and global marketing. He previously served as product manager and A&R coordinator at Interscope Records. He has worked with artists including Kendrick Lamar, BJ The Chicago Kid, Rae Sremmurd and Matt Ox, who he signed to Capitol.
