Luno, First SC-Approved Cryptocurrency Exchange In M’sia, Officially Relaunch

Luno Bitcoin exchange now live

Mention Bitcoin to any Malaysian today and the first question that comes to mind will be – is it safe?

Now Malaysians have a cryptocurrency exchange approved by the Securities Commission (SC) of Malaysia to buy, sell and store crypto safely.

Luno is the first cryptocurrency exchange in Malaysia to receive full approval from the SC last month.

The crptocurrency exchange held an official event to announce the relaunch to Malaysians yesterday.

“Regulators like the Securities Commission, here in Malaysia, who work with new digital assets and blockchain technology are showing real leadership in the sector. They are opening up the way for investors, traders and individuals in the country to maximise the benefits of a new financial system,” Marcus Swanepoel, Luno’s CEO commented in his welcome speech at the event.

The relaunch was also jointly hosted by Surina Shukri, the CEO of Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).

“Supporting crypto products and services, that further access to new financial services, moves us in the direction of our end-goal of establishing Malaysia as a regional digital powerhouse in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution; ensuring the digital economy drives shared prosperity for all Malaysians,” Surina added.

On 22nd October 2019, the Securities Commission (SC) of Malaysia had given full approval to Luno’s application to operate as a Recognized Market Operator (Digital Asset Exchange) in Malaysia.

Luno, which has its headquarters in London, has over 3 million customers (wallets) spanning over 40 countries. Their products and services make it safe and easy to buy, sell, store and learn about cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Malaysians who are interested to check out cryptocurrency investment can access the Luno platform at www.luno.com via mobile or desk-top.
